Our projects

“Pet Friendly Ukraine”

Our main and most ambitious project, the goals of which united our team at the »Konura« Charitable Foundation

This project emerged in response to a series of urgent problems:

  • Increase in the number of stray animals due to Russia’s armed aggression: The war has led to massive disasters, which in turn increased the number of homeless animals.
  • Cruel and irresponsible treatment of owners towards their animals: Lack of adequate education and awareness regarding proper care for pets can lead to cruel and irresponsible behavior towards them. Without proper training, some owners may not understand the needs of their animals or even put them in dangerous situations.
  • Absence of effective legislation regulating the rights and duties of pet owners: The lack of a clear regulatory framework can lead to ambiguous situations and a lack of incentive for owners to follow animal care rules.
  • Lack of state regulatory authorities: Insufficient effective supervision for compliance with animal treatment rules can open doors to cruelty and irresponsibility.
  • Low level of knowledge among the younger generation: The modern generation may grow up with limited knowledge about proper animal care, which may later lead to incorrect attitudes towards them.

Therefore, we decided to create an action plan aimed at effectively implementing the project.

The main idea is to reduce the number of stray animals and, in the future, eradicate the concept of ‘stray animals’, ensuring all pets a decent quality of life and preventing cruel treatment by people.

This project aims to raise the level of culture and awareness of citizens regarding animals. It seeks to reveal the history and shared evolution of humans and pets, to help form coexistence based on mutual understanding and realization that an animal is not just a thing but an individual with feelings, emotions, the ability to think, and perceive joy and suffering.

In addition, the project strives to achieve effective changes in current legislation governing norms of treatment towards domestic animals. This goal includes promoting improvements in legislative acts related to the protection of animal rights and welfare. The project aims to expand legal guarantees and responsibility for justified and dignified treatment of our furry cohabitants. Additionally, it is necessary to create a separate regulatory body that would monitor compliance with laws in the field of domestic animals.

‘Pets Friendly Ukraine’ also aims to introduce educational programs that will explain to the younger generation the proper methods of caring for pets and their role in society. This is an important component in forming a humane and ethical attitude towards animals and promotes changes in the view of animals as individuals with their own feelings and needs.

“Victory of Ukraine”

This volunteer project is a response to the catastrophic consequences of Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine, which led to the occupation of a significant part of Ukrainian territory.

Since 2014, the Russian Federation has occupied a considerable number of Ukrainian territories, including Crimea, parts of Donbas, parts of Kherson, and the Zaporizhzhia region.

Thousands of homes, urban and rural settlements have been destroyed as a result of shelling and military actions by the occupiers.

The unjustified bloody war caused a real demographic disaster — tens of thousands of civilians killed and injured, millions of internally displaced persons and emigrants.

These figures indicate a serious humanitarian crisis caused by Russia’s aggression.

Volunteers of the “Konura” Charitable Foundation within the “Help the Armed Forces of Ukraine” project have united to provide military units with necessary resources, including medical supplies, equipment, food, and technical support.

This volunteer project serves as an expression of support and solidarity with the Ukrainian people in times of trial. It creates an opportunity for people from different walks of life to unite their efforts and resources for a common goal – to provide the Ukrainian military forces with what they need to repel Russia’s aggression, achieve victory over the occupier, and preserve peace in Ukraine.

“Help for Animals”

The Charitable Foundation “Konura” carries out an extremely important mission of helping and supporting domestic animals, who have become direct victims of the cruel consequences of Russia’s military aggression.

One of the justified reasons for the creation of the foundation in general, and the “Help for Animals” project in particular, was the crisis situation in which domestic animals and their owners found themselves due to military actions. Many animals lost their owners due to the military actions of the Russian army against civilians, many shelters were destroyed or simply could not continue their activities due to active combat. All this led to a sharp increase in the number of stray animals.

The main goals of the “Help for Animals” project of the foundation are:

To help animals that have suffered as a result of the military conflict by providing medical assistance, preventing hunger, searching for their previous owners, and finding new families for them.

To support and assist animal shelters that have become a refuge for homeless pets during the war.

To organize rescue operations from frontline and de-occupied territories to save and provide adequate assistance to animals in danger.

The “Konura” Foundation is a shining example of humanitarian activity, responding to the dire situation of war and saving the innocent lives of animals by providing them with necessary support and hope for a better future.
